Armed Forces

By Boot Girl Myra

No, the other armed forces!  They do after all use a lot of their arms, and with force!  It’s UFC 130 in Las Vegas next weekend!  The amount of physical training and mental agility to compete in a fight on the level of UFC is beyond physical.  It’s that extra, over–the-top element of drive that brings me to profound respect for these guys.  Call it mind over body, maybe a spirit or will to overcome the greatest of physical challenge, all for the love of the game and the pride of being declared the victor.  But it’s temporary.  The second the fight is over, their minds are on the next contest.  It’s the adrenaline rush and fuel they need for the next bout.

This coming weekend however, it’s about so much more as UFC is on a mission to publically declare their support of our Armed Forces.  One works hard to protect our freedom so the other can do what they love: fight with their arms, ok and their legs, and minds for that matter!  UFC’s support of the Boot Campaign and the Lone Survivor Foundation communicates extreme thanks to our troops and hope to our injured military.  The generous donations and boot purchases by UFC fans make it possible to aide the Lone Survivor Foundation in the construction of a much needed recovery ranch.  It will become a preeminent treatment center where our wounded heroes and their families can get help they need to adjust to the new normal in their lives.

I don’t know what kind of arms you have, or the force behind them but I do know a simple click of a mouse will send a forceful thank-you message to the veterans, active duty, and newly enlisted citizens of your town.  Be sure to thank your Armed Forces this Memorial Weekend, and while you’re at it tune in to UFC and see some arms in forceful work!
